Tianli Energy Won the Second Prize of the “2025 Machinery Industry Science and Technology Invention Award”
Recently, the list of winners of the 2025 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards was officially announced. The technological achievement “Research on Key Technologies of Three-stage Dehydration Device for Electrolytic-Grade Anhydrous Magnesium Chloride and 10,000-Ton-Scale Industrial Demonstration,” led by Shandong Tianli Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Tianli Energy”), won the second prize of the Technological Invention Award for its outstanding technological innovation and application value.
The China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award is a national comprehensive science and technology award for the machinery industry, jointly established by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. It is the highest industry science and technology award in the machinery industry. It aims to recognize units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the scientific and technological work of the machinery industry, encourage the enthusiasm and creativity of the scientific and technological workers in the machinery industry, promote the development of science and technology in the machinery industry, and improve the comprehensive strength and level of China’s machinery industry.

This award-winning project focuses on the technical bottlenecks in the preparation of electrolytic-grade anhydrous magnesium chloride using the hydrogen chloride protected dehydration method. It establishes a theoretical mechanism for the dehydration of magnesium chloride hydrates, constructs a three-stage dehydration technology system for the hydrogen chloride protected dehydration method, and forms an engineering technology path for the preparation of electrolytic-grade anhydrous magnesium chloride. The technological achievements have reached an internationally leading level. The industrial application of this technology provides an effective way to utilize the 60 million tons of “magnesium pollution” annually, promotes the green and coordinated development between the sustainable development and utilization of salt lake resources and ecological protection, and can comprehensively improve the energy efficiency and environmental protection level of the magnesium metal industry. It provides strong scientific and technological support for the China’s strategy of building a “world-class salt lake industry base" and a "national magnesium materials powerhouse."
Tianli Energy will take this honor as a new starting point, continue to increase R&D investment, deepen industry-university-research cooperation, and work with more research institutions and universities to explore new paths for magnesium resource development. It is committed to breaking through the key technical bottlenecks of high-purity primary magnesium, improving the high-value utilization level of magnesium resources, and promoting the green and low-carbon development of China's magnesium industry.
